Orthodontist Indianapolis: All About Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry dealing with the treatment of teeth irregularities, especially occlusion and alignment, and jaws that are improperly positioned. Improper teeth and jaw alignment or occlusion are harder to clean that may result to tooth decay and gum disease. Because the teeth and jaw are not properly aligned, extra effort and stress on chewing muscles cause headaches, neck, shoulder and back pain, and TMJ syndrome. The benefits of orthodontic treatment include improved appearance, healthier mouth and stronger teeth. The specialist in the field of orthodontics is termed as an orthodontist, specializing in correcting occlusion, bites and improper alignment of teeth. Orthodontists are graduates of four years general dentistry and additional two or more years of education in an approved training program.
